Geoeconomic Assessments
State Geoeconomic Studies
Geoeconomic Study of the State of Amapá
Mining is one of the main economic activities in Amapá, playing a leading role in the state's development process. Mining in Amapá has gone through, in the last ten years, a cycle of setbacks in the main indicators of its mineral industry. This study presents an analysis of the geoeconomic context of Amapá, the main enterprises of the mineral industry, basic socioeconomic aspects of mining and the main local mining products.
Geoeconomic Opportunities for the Sustainable Development of the State of Sergipe
Elaborated by the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB-CPRM), the report presents and analyzes data and information related to the geoeconomic panorama of Sergipe, highlighting the characterization and spatial distribution of occurrences, deposits and mineral production units existing in the state; in addition to undertakings associated with the respective production chains and the main elements of transport and energy infrastructure.
Regional Geoeconomic Studies
Work Plan: Subprogram Evaluation of Regional Geoeconomic Potential (APGR)
The Evaluation of the Geoeconomic Potential of the Province of Carajás Project is part of the subprogram Evaluation of the Regional Geoeconomic Potential (APGR). The objective is to build a consistent evaluation methodology to be applied in different consolidated geoeconomic provinces. For this pilot experience, the province of Carajás, located in the state of Pará, was analyzed using predictive models and economic evaluation. The report enables the production and sharing of data for public policies and strategic plans, important for mineral exploration in the early stages.
Other Geoeconomic Studies
The State Subprograms for the Development of Mineral and Industrial Production Chains (CPMs)
The State Subprograms for the Development of Mining-Industrial Productive Chains (CPMs) were registered and implemented with the purpose of integrating geoscientific and geoeconomic nature information generated and disseminated by the SGB-CPRM. The objectives of the action are to characterize existing opportunities for new ventures related to geodiversity resources. The backbone of the initiative is the Mineral Exploration and Production Planning Platform Program (P3M), which seeks to integrate, systematize, analyze and disseminate the knowledge necessary for the Strategic Planning of Mineral Exploration and Production.
Action Plans and Programs
Master Plan for Development and Implementation
The Plan is the result of a series of meetings and debates held in May 2020. At the time, a proposal for a Master Plan was prepared for the design and implementation of a Platform to Support Planning for Mineral Exploration and Production. Completed in three months, the Plan presents the fundamentals of the new project, its main proposals, the work carried out to organize it and the initial activities for implementation.
Executive Summary of the P3M Platform Master Plan
Planned and structured by the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB-CPRM), through the actions of the Directorate of Geology and Mineral Resources (DGM), P3M is a Support Platform for Planning and Strategic Management of Mineral Exploration. It is intended for the dissemination of information and learning, supporting research for public policies and strategic plans for mineral exploration. Provides data on mining investment results, and consequent effects and repercussions for sustainable and competitive regional development. Find out about the main directions for implementing P3M: objectives, models, main demands, implementation process and governance.
Annual Work Program - PAT 2022
In this presentation, follow the initial strategic organization for the development and launch of the Mineral Exploration and Production Planning Platform (P3M). The documented Initial Activities took place between September 2020 and July 2021.
National Fertilizer Plan - Long-Term Supply versus Demand Scenarios - Phosphate and Potassium
The SGB-CPRM develops important contemporary studies on fertilizers in the country, necessary for the efficient production of food, biomass for energy purposes, cellulose, paper and wood industry. New value generation opportunities in mining -industrial ventures in developing countries will follow certain patterns. Among them are the agreement established at COP 21 - which seeks to reverse the global warming process by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions -; and the New York conference (2015), which established the 17 Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs ), with 169 goals. Here, you can follow an analysis of the national production scenario and potential in the context of fertilizers.
Conducted Presentations
Critical Minerals
Economic Viability and Global Market - Competitiveness of Specific Minerals - Geoeconomic Profile of Cobalt
The document contextualizes the importance and uses of cobalt in Brazil. It starts with a historical analysis of the mineral and also the laws that deal with its use; public policy; locations in the country where there are deposits and mineral production of the resource; as well as the economic scenario - national and international. The presentation makes a comparison of uses and reserves between cobalt and nickel.
Economic Viability and Global Market - Competitiveness of Specific Minerals - Geoeconomic Profile of Graphite
Produced by researchers from the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB-CPRM), the analysis presents graphite production data in the country, in the world market, in the main mining companies, in potential places, and in public policies. Brazil is the world's third largest producer of the resource and stores the fourth largest global reserve of crystalline graphite . The main states of deposit are Minas Gerais, Bahia, Ceará, Rio de Janeiro and Mato Grosso.
Economic Viability and Global Market - Competitiveness of Specific Minerals - Geoeconomic Profile of Lithium
The presentation, in english, contextualizes the geoeconomic profile of lithium in Brazil, according to the study " Evaluation of the lithium potential in Brazil ", produced by the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB-CPRM). The focus of this report is an area on the Jequitinhonha River, in the northeast of Minas Gerais, where mining companies, that produce or will produce lithium, are located. The report demonstrates that the area has considerable capacity for expanding reserves of lithium and other minerals within litiniferous pegmatites.
Economic Viability and Global Market - Competitiveness of Specific Minerals - Geoeconomic Profile of Rare Earths
In this geoeconomic profile of Brazilian rare earths , researchers from the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB-CPRM) present the occurrence of these mineral resources, the main reserves, their uses and applications, the world economic perspective and Brazilian production. Rare earths are a group of 17 chemical elements - metals with similar physical compositional properties. In Brazil, rare earth coal deposits stand out in Catalão (GO), Araxá (MG), Mato Preto (PR). Examples of rare earth metals are monazite, bastnasite and xenothymium.

Information Hub for Improving the Competitiveness and Sustainability of Mineral Exploration in Brazil
The presentation deals with the concentration of information to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of mineral exploration in Brazil. Databases with information on Economic Geology, the world market, statistics on mining in cities, and data platforms support the planning of exploration and mineral production.
